Morgenroth 2nd St. Residence

Designed as a High Performance Home, the 2nd St. Residence exceeds California’s Title-24 Energy Code requirement by 15%. It features hydronic radiant heated floors, energy efficient windows, whole house fan, and radiant barrier to keep the home cooler by reducing heat build-up in the attic spaces. Advanced framing techniques was also applied, using 2x6 walls which allows for a higher percentage of walls to be insulated.

In the Kitchen, Energy Star rated appliances where installed which can significantly reduce the home’s energy and water use. Interior materials used inside are environmentally sustainable materials like Ceasarstone countertops, Modwall tiles, and Flor modular carpet tiles. Outside, landscape architect  Richard McPherson, created a drought tolerant garden that feature native plants and weather-based irrigation systems. For Jim Morgenroth, Green Building is not so much about having renewable energy systems in your home (solar panels etc.) it’s about quality in design, construction and maintenance.
